Liturgy
from setting 7
We continue to introduce the music and liturgy from setting 7 in the ELW. we
will learn parts of the liturgy each week until we have the entire setting incorporated into our worship.
Assisting
Ministers
We are currently contacting all the Assisting Ministers to update their availability and
willingness to serve during the next quarter, July, August and September. Thanks to those of you who have responded by email
already. If you would like to be added to the list of Assisting Ministers, please contact Pastor Koch to let him know how
you are willing to serve, for example, as an usher, or a Lector, or in the Coffee time rotation. All are welcome to serve.
The Church office secretary will complete the 3rd Quarter schedule soon and mail it to you. If you have specific time you’d
like to serve, or dates that you are NOT available, please let us know that too.
Don't Forget!! We have an ongoing opportunity for people to assist in our ministry
of worship. We need Lectors to read the lessons.
We need Ushers to assist worshippers.
We need Altar Preparers to set up and clean up the Eucharistic vessels.
We need Communion Assistants to help serve the Cup and Tray. We need Coffee Time
Hosts to set up and serve our coffee fellowship time Sunday mornings. (Usually, one Host sets up and
another cleans up at the end of coffee hour.) Do you want
to help, but don't know just what to do? Ask Pastor Koch, and get involved.
Please sign up on the bulletin board in the breezeway. We can't do it without volunteers. Thank
you!
Garden Labyrinth Completed Thank you to
John Hopkins for leading the labyrinth project. Also to Mike Hauck and Dean Stuenkel who worked with John in this labor intensive
project. Thanks also to all who donated for this project. We will remember the donors and memorialize loved ones on a plaque. The labyrinth is a path of prayer, a walking meditation that can be a mirror of the soul. A labyrinth is not a maze.
A maze is designed for you to lose your way; a labyrinth is designed for you to find your way. To focus on the path frees
you from distractions so that you can be where you are with God in a holy place. Be willing to walk, to ask, to listen, and
to thank God for insight.

Fill the Barrel Continues
The next Second Harvest Food Bank pick-up is ongoing. Please bring your donations to the barrels anytime you
can, Thank you.
Regular Maintenance
Thanks to Herm Weyland for weed whacking the area behind the church offices and along the playground fence. Regular maintenance is always
needed if you are looking for ways to help. Just come out for an hour or so and help maintain the garden or haul some
brush from the field onto the main debris pile. Many hands each doing a manageable part is easy.
Summer Music Camp for 2010 Summer Music Camp for 2010 has been set for August 9 to 13, with culminating worship and our traditional Beer ‘n’
Brats church picnic on Sunday, August 15. This year we will focus on Mary, Mother of our Lord because August 5th
is the day we honor Mary. Our Summer Music Camp will give us a chance to celebrate some of the events we associate with Christmas,
like the Annunciation to Mary by the angel Gabriel of the birth of Jesus, the visit of Elizabeth to Mary as the two women
share their good news of being pregnant with John the Baptist and Jesus, and the birth and blessing of Jesus. The Gospel of
Luke has the most liturgical music drawn from the texts of the first 2 chapters. The song of Zechariah, John the Baptist’s
father, the song of Mary, the song of the angels to the shepherds, and the song of Simeon as he holds the newborn Savior of
the world. That’s a lot of music. Christmas in August? We hope it won’t change the weather pattern. It will give
us the opportunity to hear some of the best stories in the Bible, and to sing music that has been used in the church for centuries.
We meet from 9 to 11:30 Monday through Friday with singing, stories, crafts and activities for children from 3 on up. We can
always use helpers too.
Simply Giving Changes a few things Beginning
in January, 2010, Simply Giving will begin to assess a transaction fee of 20 cents per transaction. While that may not seem
like very much, we hope to minimize that by suggesting that all who use Simply Giving change weekly giving to monthly giving.
For example, let’s say that your weekly giving is $50 for 52 weeks. The total is $2,600 for one year. However, the 20
cent transaction fee is for 52 transactions, which is $10.40. If, however, you change your giving to monthly, that would be
$217 per month, and the transaction fee is only $2.40 for 12 transactions. In these hard times, we can use the $8 difference
much more than the bank that sets the fee charge. Please talk to Herm Weyland if you need help to make that change.
